Kristen Ronning is a horn player currently based in Iowa City, IA where she is pursuing her DMA at the University of Iowa. In addition to serving as a Teaching Assistant at UI, Kristen balances an active career of teaching and performing throughout the Midwest.

Outside of performing, Kristen maintains a vibrant teaching studio. She is the Teaching Artist of Horn at Drake University, Instructor of High Brass at Culver-Stockton College, Teaching Artist of Horn at St. Ambrose University, and a Private Horn Instructor through the Quad City Symphony’s Private Lesson Program.

Kristen has performed with various orchestras across the Midwest, including the Quad City Symphony, Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, Adrian Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, she has been featured with the Wheaton Municipal Band and Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra. Beyond Western Classical playing, Kristen has performed backing popular acts such as Mannheim Steamroller and the Texas Tenors.

Prior to moving to Iowa, Kristen received her BM in Horn Performance from Bowling Green State University and her MM in Orchestral Studies from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where she studied with Dr. Andrew Pelletier and Jon Boen respectively.
